James Batelli, the retired Police Chief of Mahwah, New Jersey and a police officer for 41 years before retiring in 2019, will join the Town Hall to give his perspective as a law enforcement expert. Other guests, especially those from the real estate and property management field are expected to join Chief Batelli and the Virtual Town Hall’s returning host, Dino Iuliano, Planned Companies’ Chief Revenue Officer, who is a former law enforcement officer and former member of the United States Marines.
“2020 has seen more incidents of protest than any other year in recent memory, and many have happened spontaneously and without warning. While most protests have been peaceful, a good number of resulted in damage to public, private and business properties,” said Iuliano. “With the recent release of the Building Owners and Managers Association’s (BOMA) Preparedness Guide on Civil Unrest and the Election Season, we felt it timely and prudent to reinvigorate our Virtual Town Hall programs.”
Throughout a year of pandemic response and social unrest, people have taken to the streets over a number of issues including gender politics, political difference, anti-lockdown/anti-quarantine, racial inequality, and police actions. Property damage has been in the billions of dollars. As a result, Planned Companies is reinvigorating the Virtual Town Hall format so property management professionals have a central place to learn from each other.
When the COVID-19 public health emergency began, the companies started a series of weekly Virtual Town Halls. Each one, to date, has covered topics related to COVID-19 response and facility reopening, and, in light of the “new normal,” and how to best execute essential operations related to the industry.
“Our clients reach out about their concerns and are looking for ways to be more vigilant this year around the election. Voting season usually fosters a range of emotions, and this year’s elections, more than many in recent memory, require an alternative approach,” said Planned Companies President and CEO Robert Francis. “Regardless of which candidate wins. This election brings a strong potential for lingering civil unrest, and we felt it was critical to use our network and our industry partners to present a high-level exchange of ideas so all may benefit.”
